  • Craig Ranapia,

Those people work so hard for their kids.

Indeed - but since you and David C. are far too modest to do it yourselves, I'll pat you both on the backs too. You're both freelance writers - a precarious lifestyle choice at the best of times - and you've both put enormous time, energy and effort into making sure "their issues were being aired in such a forum" that could have been spent on, well, more lucrative work.

  • Che Tibby,

    i got my copy autographed!

    whu-whoo!

a great night. the speeches were moving, the crowd congenial, and the bidding extremely generous (from my perspective near the back.)

i'm looking forward to reading the memoir.

  • Gary Hutchings,

Yip, the New imacs look very shiny, but I am not sure about the new keyboard thou, flat keys are fine for laptops and occasional use, but for a fully featured desktop I will have to be convinced after a bit of "hands on sampling",

But the wireless one does look super cool...

  • Robyn Gallagher,

All the discussions around autism in Public Address have helped me understand it more. I know a couple of people who are at the milder end of the austim spectrum, and it's just helped me understand why they do the things they do - why one girl can barely hold a conversation, but has a deliciously poetic LiveJournal filled with fan fiction and other delights.

Also, OMG - iMac desire! I'm a little wary of the keyboard - it seems like it might not be kind to fingers, but I'd like to give it a go. It makes me wish I had a lovely home office set up so I could justify getting one.

  • richard,

The new iMacs do look rather cute, but I was also pleased to see the Mini get an upgrade. Its demise has been rumored for a while, so it is good to see it live on. I am about to buy one and set it up as a little server in a corner of my office...

  • Gary Hutchings,

They also added gigabit ethernet to the airport extreme base station, which is now looking much better as a "cheap n nasty" NAS solution, slave a USB HDD off it, stuff them in the back of a cupboard together and bo-ya.

  • Jason Kemp,

Reminds me of a fine old album by Bruce Cockburn. The album called Humans from 1980 still sounds great now. And the song 'Rumours of glory - might fit the title of your new site. (T-Bone Burnett has one 'Humans from Earth' as well.)

    "You see the extremes
    Of what humans can be?
In that distance some tension's born
    Energy surging like a storm
    You plunge your hand in
    And draw it back scorched
    Beneath it's shining like
    Gold but better
    Rumours of glory"

all the best wishes for the new project

  • Ana Simkiss,

Nice work Russell. Coincidentally there was an article in yesterday's Guardian about autism, and it chimes a bit with a lot of what you've said about the condition. Have a read here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,2142946,00.html
